Update from Beding

Joe and David have successfully finished up the ice climbing portion of their adventure. The month in Beding has been amazing. They are well acclimatized and feeling healthy. They have enjoyed amazing ice, great weather, fabulous food prepared by the world famous vegan chef, Julie Hentrich, and the hospitality of the people of Beding. In the past week there have been two more festivals, the 10 day of Losar and the Full Moon Festival, that the trio has joined in the celebrations. They are feeling rested and ready to move up valley to their next objective on Wednesday.

Tomorrow the townspeople will hold a Puja ceremony for the team. During the Puja, the Sherpas will ask and pray to the gods for permission to climb and for a blessing for a safe and successful expedition.

Today, the team is out looking for the elusive snow leopard. Apparently a few goats have been killed in the valley in the last month and the leopard has been seen by a few villagers.

A few highlights of the past week included three more great climbs. (2Pitch WI4, 2 Pitch WI5 and 3Pitch WI3) To add some excitement to the climbing Joe is doing fine after taking an 8 meter fall on to a 00 Camelot, while attempting a difficult mixed climb (M6-M7). The line looked great but both David and Joe decided to back off and leave it for another day.
