2010 Rolwaling Ice and Takargo Expedition

Welcome to Climb Nepal and thanks for joining us on another adventure!  David and I will arrive in Kathmandu on February 1st to prepare for a 2-month trip into the Rolwaling Valley in the Nepal Himalaya, west of the Khumbu. We have planned a dual-mission climbing trip. Our first mission is to explore the vast potential of ice climbing in the Rolwaling Valley, climbing and documenting as many waterfall-ice routes as we can.

Here are a few waterfalls we observed on our 2008 trip:

Our second and main objective is to attempt the unclimbed 6,771-meter (22,215-foot) Takargo. Sitting in the heart of the Rolwaling, Takargo (a.k.a. Tarkargo or Dragkar-Go) is the highest peak in the uplift nearly completely surrounded by the Tradkarding Glacier and the Ripimo Glacier.

We'll be posting short updates from Kathmandu and from the field, so come back and visit often to watch the adventure unfold.
